The Honest Kitchen Steamy Pups Review and Giveaway!

Last summer, when the heat was in the 100’s, Delia became a fan of The Honest Kitchen’s Ice Pups. Ice Pups are grain free treats for dogs and cats that can be mixed with water to create a broth that can be served frozen or as Steamy Pups served as a warm broth.

During the frigid winter months, we relied on Steamy Pups to warm Delia up after a romp in the snow.

First, we mixed the Ice Pups/Steamy Pups ingredient packet with 8 oz of water.

Next, if we’re making Ice Pups, we freeze it in ice cube trays. If we’re making Steamy Pups, we boil 8 oz of water, then add the ingredient packet. Once cooled enough to eat, the broth can be served alone, over dry food, mixed with The Honest Kitchen’s food, or used as a soup base. So far, Delia likes it any way I serve it to her. I use it as a topper to her dry food at times to entice her, since she’s a super picky eater.

She drank it all!

The Honest Kitchen’s website features a number of recipes for their products. One that Delia and I have tweaked a bit is below. We skipped the carrots as Delia’s not a fan and used ground turkey instead of chicken. She loves it.

Recipe from The Honest Kitchen:

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon coconut oil 2 small cooked skinless chicken breast 1 medium zucchini 10 baby carrots or 2-3 regular sized carrots 1 ½ cups cooked quinoa 4 packets of Ice Pups 32 oz of filtered water Couple of tablespoons of fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Heat pan to medium high and add coconut oil. Add chopped carrots and sauté for about 4 minutes till they get soft. About 2 minutes in, add the chopped zucchini and cook for an additional 2 minutes. In a medium size stock pot, add the water and bring to a low boil. Once boiling, add the packets of Ice Pups and stir. Add carrots and zucchini to broth and turn heat down to a simmer. Shred the chicken breast and add to broth along with the quinoa. Stir and turn off heat so soup cools down to room temperature. Garnish with parsley if you want and serve to your pup or cat to warm them up!
