Responsible Dog Breeders | Companies against Puppy Mills | The Honest Kitchen
Delia and I are fans of The Honest Kitchen and their healthy products for dogs and cats. I’m a fan of the fact that they refuse to sell their products to stores that sell puppies or kittens. Their article about Puppy Mills vs. Responsible Breeders is interesting to me. Anyone who knows me knows I’m against puppy mills and worked hard, and will continue to work hard, to spread the word about the horror that animals face in puppy mills.
I was very “anti-breeder” for a while. In my work I’ve met a few breeders who have proven to be responsible, reputable breeders. As I get to know them, I’m also seeing a bit of their “side” as well. The breeders I’ve gotten to know love their animals and take great measures to care for them and to ensure a healthy well being for them. I can respect them for that and for their love of their breed. I know all breeders aren’t awful monsters and they all do not condone puppy millers.
Still, I would hope someone wanting to add an animal to their home would adopt rather than buy. There are just too many homeless animals. (That’s an understatement!)
I invite you to read The Honest Kitchen’s article about Puppy Mills vs. Responsible Breeders, and I would love to know your thoughts.
